As with all county expenditures, the county management and staff submit a budget to the Commissioners, which they approve.  In the case of SPLOST VI, the projects have already been identified.  For the transportation improvements, a Citizens Committee was formed to review all transportation needs identified throughout the entire county, and the committee made specific recommendations to the Board of Commissioners, which were accepted as presented.  These projects are identified in some detail on the other side of this flyer.  The overall categories for SPLOST VI revenues are:

 

Roads, Streets, Bridges and Sidewalks $218 million
Public Safety Facilities $18 million
Park & Recreational Facilities $13 million
Library Facilities  $7 million
Cultural Facilities    $6 million
